Four guests seated around a table at the trial night, deep in conversation over their clue sheets and drinks.
"It was great to meet and interact with new people. The food was really good, and combined with the staged chapters of the murder mystery, it worked a treat." — David, trial guest
"You could work with the other guests and get involved, or simply solve the mystery at your own pace — which made it really relaxed and accessible." — Katie, trial guest
"The food was delicious and the host was absolutely fantastic — so friendly, funny, and really made the whole evening." — Fiona, trial guest

Our setting

Three Cranes is a timber-framed townhouse dating to 1470 — Rotherham's oldest secular building, Grade II listed, and (guests say) not entirely free of ghosts. It holds a 5 out of 5 Food Hygiene Rating from the Food Standards Agency.

25–27 High Street, Rotherham S60 1PT

How it works

Five courses, five chapters — the story is paced with the meal, one piece at a time, so nobody can skip ahead. You'll be tested as a table between courses, building toward a fatal finale.

Book your seat

Solo, in a pair, or as a group — every seat is booked individually, even within a group booking.

Tell us your allergies and tastes

A short form at booking — properly declared allergens, plus what you love and what you won't touch.

Sit down to a shared table

You don't have to talk to anyone if you don't want to — but working through the same mystery tends to break the ice anyway.

Face the test, course by course

Each chapter puts you to the test, building toward a fatal finale by the last course.

Who's cooking, and why you can trust it

Every allergy, properly planned for

Not just tolerated. Declared allergens are a legal requirement here — we treat them as a starting point, not the whole picture.

Fussy eaters genuinely welcome

Tell us what you love and what you won't touch. We'd rather ask than guess.

Booking for a group?

Everyone gets their own short form sent directly to them — you're not responsible for chasing your friends' allergies.

Severe or life-threatening allergy? Please contact us directly before booking rather than relying on the form alone. We plan carefully around every declared allergy, but this is a small kitchen without dedicated allergen-free facilities, so we can't guarantee zero cross-contamination risk.

Questions

Can I book on my own?

Yes. Seats are booked individually, not sold as fixed tables. Seating is shared — you don't have to talk to anyone if you don't want to, but working through the same mystery tends to break the ice anyway.

What if I'm a really fussy eater?

Tell us when you book. Every guest fills in a short palate form — what you love and what you won't touch — and the kitchen plans around it properly, not just around a legal allergen list.

I have a severe allergy — is this safe for me?

Please contact us directly before booking rather than relying on the online form alone. We plan carefully around declared allergies, but this is a small kitchen without dedicated allergen-free facilities, so we can't guarantee zero cross-contamination risk for a severe or life-threatening allergy.

Do I need to come with a group?

No. Solo, pairs, and groups all book the same way — one seat at a time. If you're booking for a group, everyone gets their own short allergy form sent directly to them, so you're not responsible for chasing your friends.

Book your seat
